Leadership Jackson

Founded in 1979, Leadership Jackson hones leadership skills through activities such as a ropes course, personal assessment, group interaction and education. This Chamber program builds participants’ ability to interact successfully with diverse groups of people, creates liaison relationships that can help a business and the community grow and acclimates them with an accurate assessment of the community. Servant leadership and community service are a focus after graduation. More than 600 Leadership Jackson alumni still live in Jackson.

Participants attend a two-day opening retreat and must attend 80 percent of 12 weekly sessions, complete homework assignments and participate in planning a community class project. The program is open to the owners or employees of any Chamber member business. Nomination forms are sent to all Chamber members each year in June.

Leadership Jackson is not an action or advocate group -- it is an educational opportunity to broaden perspectives and gain increased understanding of community dynamics and public issues.

“I consider my participation in, graduating from and staying involved with Leadership Jackson as one of the most important things I have achieved. The vast network of people and the number of good friends I have made has been a true blessing. It has enabled me to establish roots in Jackson and to become an active member of the community. I highly recommend a person giving serious consideration to applying to Leadership Jackson. It will be beneficial both professionally and personally.”
