Chamber invites public to listen and learn from state legislators

Jackson, TN – Local state legislators will speak about the latest news from the Tennessee General Assembly during CapitolTALK, a town hall meeting scheduled for 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, 197 Auditorium St.

Senator Lowe Finney (D-Jackson), Rep. Jimmy Eldridge (R-Jackson) and Rep. Johnny Shaw (D-Bolivar) will each have at least 10 minutes to speak about the state legislature which returned to session on Jan. 12 in Nashville. John Garrard, chairman of The Chamber’s governmental affairs committee, will serve as moderator.

Shirley Jones, vice president of public affairs at The Chamber, said the program will provide an hour-long update about what’s happening in the state legislature. Following remarks from the state legislators, the public will be allowed to ask questions.

“It’s a great way to find out from your elected officials what’s going on as well as let them know what’s important to you,” Jones said.

CapitolTALK, which has been hosted by The Chamber for at least 15 years, is free to attend and open to the public. A light breakfast will be served at the program.

For more information about CapitolTALK, please contact Shirley Jones at 731-423-2200 or by e-mail at sajones@jacksontn.com.
